Boatbuilding has lots of jargon – developed over many centuries, technical terms, local variations (globally) and is generally confusing to explain. After a few months learning to use and understand some of the basic terms myself I have resolved to reduce, wherever possible, my use of boatbuilding terminology while writing this site.
I’m not about to start a glossary myself – but if you want to understand a boatbuilding term here are (in no particular order) a few on-line glossaries. Let me know if you have a favourite list that you think I should add.
