Seapod the Peapod was turned over today. The lines, to my eyes, look fine. She certainly looks much more shapely and delicate than she did when upside down on the molds. Here are a few snaps. Higher resolution versions are available on Flickr.
The sheer strake, we decided, will be fitted after the hull is faired. But before doing that I want to fit the floors, so the boat has now been turned over with a batten holding the timbers in place. The lower edge of the batten is the intended sheer line. Fitting the inwhale and breast hooks before the sheer strake will also, for us, make sense.
Tomorrow I will start cleaning up (just four spots of epoxy used to tack the endmost timbers to the hog and some sikaflex from the hog and hood ends).
Everyone was most complimentary – which is great. It’s surpising how hard it is to ’see’ what a boat will look like before she is actually turned over. I was pleasantly surprised.
